Abac spring/ fall

Happy fall y'all
Gotta say that with a southern accent!
There is a brand new challenge up at Anything but a Card
it's a fall/ spring challenge,
and since in my neck of the woods it's "fall"
I made this fun banner to share with you all!
I got a fun pennant die cut that made this project super easy!
And I used up a bunch of my scrap papers that have been cluttering up my space!
What is better than that?

I hope you will hop on over and check out all the fall/spring goodies up on the blog!
And welcome some new DT members as well!

Have a wonderful week y'all!

Steampunk for anything but a card

Happy Sunday!
I gotta say I'm very excited for football season to finally be starting up again!
I can't wait for the weather to turn a little cooler so I can have all the windows open while we watch the games!

Oh that's right I'm not writing a sports blog!!
I have some yummmmmmmy steampunk goodness to share with you all today!
I rescently did an overhaul of my studio, a lot of purging, and a lot of organizing,
and I came across this picture frame that I got at the second hand store.
I thought this would be a the perfect project for the Steampunk Challenge at Anything But A Card.

It was great to know exactly where all my metal goodies were,
and plus I found some that were "lost."
Here is the finished project
And some close ups...

This little deck of cards is one of my most favorite purchases from a recent estate sale.
I added a little clip and the light bulb.
I had also gotten a wonderful measuring tape at an estate sale,
so i clipped a little piece of it and added some cogs and a game spinner piece.

Finally for the Inspire light bulb,
This piece was completely see through, so i added a bit of scrap paper to the back,
and boom, a wonderful piece.

I hope you all are inspired by what you're seeing, and don't forget that there is currently
a Design Team call going on at Anything But a Card.
I will say this is a wonderful group to work with, and there are always inspiring pieces!
If you like to make things other than cards please throw your hat in!
We would love to have you in the group!

She left beauty

I cannot believe it's been so long since I posted!  I do apologize,
I've been busy teaching an Art Journal Class,
and then last weekend we did a complete overhaul of the studio!
Ahhh it's nice to have a nice clean and organized space!

Today I have a card to share with you all.
I made this for a card swap with my meetup group.
We had no restrictions, so I just went with it for a bit.
I got to play with my new embossing paste
and some of my glitter embossing powder.
And I also used some vellum
See the glitter!
Mmmmm inky goodness, just how I like it!
I'll have some pics of the cleaned up studio for you all a bit later!

Thanks for stopping in!

A easel birthday card

I have a fun easel birthday card to share with you all today
I have been playing around with different style cards,
because I'll be teaching a ULTIMATE card make n take in a few weeks,
and though this is a great time to practice!

So here is the card sitting up pretty
And when it's closed, this is the front...
looks just like a normal non-conspicuous card!
And I made a matching envelope to boot!
I am totally loving the chalkboard effect of white ink on black stock paper.
Very very very easy to achieve this look, and I love how it just stands out.

Anything goes at Anyting but a Card

I hope you all had a safe and fun 4th of July!
Sorry I've been so quiet lately,
sometimes life sneaks up on you I guess!
It's the first Sunday of the month, so that means there is a
brand spankin new challenge at Anything But a Card!
And this time around it's Anything Goes!
Well anything but a card goes!
So I have a page out of my planner/ art journal to share with you all.
As you may have read prior I'm doing the Documented Life Project
This is a really great challenge that gives you an art journal prompt every week,
and challenges you to use the journal as a planner as well!
So I'm sharing with you all my "tip in" page.
The prompt was to use a crossword puzzle, or sudoku, or other game type page.
I decided to make my own crossword with these great words!
This is the page opened up, and you can see where my planner is on the one side,
and then two additional pages of art journaling.
I tend to prep my pages prior, and felt that with it being the 4th of July that the red and blue was perfecto!
I hope you are inspired to join in our challenge this week!
Thanks so very much for checking out my blog.

Welcome Baby

I have this fun baby shower card to share with you all today!
Perfect for a baby boy!
Oh what fun I had coloring him up with my prismacolor markers.
I added some "stitching" with my white pen, and dug through my
wood veneer letters to spell out "welcome baby."

I just adore how it turned out,
and may have to make another one for the shop!

Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!

Lets play a round

Yes, Fathers day is this weekend...
if you are lucky enough to still have your dad,
I hope you get to spend some time with him on this wonderful holiday!
I am one of the lucky ones,
however I am not lucky enough to be physically close enough to get to spend the day with him.

This week has been full of Fathers Day Card orders,
I am going to share this one because I am in love with it!

See how the golf ball  goes around the circle?
Yep, it's "interactive,"
Simple, but effective.
I'm hoping the fabulous lady that ordered it loves it as well!

Oh oh oh AND... I made the map envelope to go with it!  LOVE this!!!

Mosquitos

The best thing about being able to do my own cards
is that I'm not restricted to stamps that are in print,
I can print out my own sentiments and find perfect digi's online!

Last night one of my co-workers requested this card.
I never thought I'd make a card with a mosquito,
or with this sort of sentiment,
thats what's so great about custom orders,
They let me go outside my ho hum distress box!
Yeah, you're reading that right,
the sentiment says Mosquito's are A$$holes.
Obviously this is a personal sentiment, and an inside sort of joke.
I couldn't resist using the googly eyes on the mosquito,
after all don't all mosquito's have googly eyes?
The other product that I got to use is Wink of Stella,
if you haven't found this product yet in your local scrapbook store,
you should be asking them to carry it!
I uses it on the wings, and it gives just a bit of shimmer,
and colors the white papers a bit off-white!
It's PERFECT!

Hope you are having a crafty day!

Birthday card

Hello!
Well, I've given in, it is officially summer, and my Air conditioner is now running 24 hrs a day!
Yep, the thermometer in my car read at 112 yesterday!
So my goal is to stay cool, and craft!
Yesterday I got some time in, and I made this fun and fab birthday card.

Yeah, I got to use my envelope maker to make a matching envelope even!
I am SOOOO in love with the envelope maker!
If you love this card as much as I do,
you can own it!

Just Some Lines and Anything But a Card

Hey all!
So if you read my blog last week you know that's I've started a new planner/
art journal with Documented life.
I figured this is a great place to try some new techniques.
For this page I used up some of my excess papers that mask off
my projects from errant spritzes of ink!
I cut them up into flowers, and glued them down to the page.
Then I added the fab girl from Just Some Lines floating in a sea of flowers.
The design team at Just Some Lines is going on hiatus for the summer.
But there are a bunch of new fun digis in the shop!

And at Anything But a Card the challenge this month is.....
What do you have planned for this summer?
Do you float in the pool, play on the beach, or camp in the mountains,
come over and share your summer with us!

Summer

If you do a google search for summer
you get quite a few pictures of the beach and seashells and flip flops
If you're like me and your stuck in the desert in 100++ degree weather
then your summer looks more like air conditioning and any iced beverage!
And hopefully an afternoon or two in the pool!

No seashells, no beaches,
However, summer always brings to mind some fun bright colors,
and it always makes me miss my family on the east coast!
So for the Summer Challenge over at Fussy and Fancy Friday
I pulled out all my brigh scraps,
and I made this fun card.
Bright bright bright,
then I took the card outside to photograph it and it was Bright out there too!
I hope you will come along and check out the fabulous Summer creations from my fellow
Design Team members!

Card two ways

 Good afternoon,
I have had this post sitting in my drafts for a few weeks apparently!
I figure why not go ahead and share it today!
And the best part is that both of these cards are still available in my Etsy Shop!

I just love love love this sentiment!
"Be Strong, go with your heart, and believe in miracles.. because anything can happen"
I've decided that one of the paper companies needs to come out with
a whole paper pack that is only woodgrain!
And if any of you out there know of some such paper pack please let me know
who has it and where I could possibly get one!
I also of course love this May Arts ribbon, teal, chevron, what's not to like?

So, I went ahead and made another copy in red
With a bit of a Sewing theme.

I am sooo soo sooo in love with that wooden button,
I have had a lot of luck with antique buttons as of late, and this one is just amazingly fabulous!
I love the look of vellum, but I do have a hard time making it stay
attached to anything!
So I've resorted to brads.
They are perfect for vellum!
I also like small staples or sewing.
All are a good tip for using vellum.

I hope you are getting crafty this week, come back tomorrow for my Fussy and Fancy Friday
post, then on Saturday I'll have the last Just Some Lines post till the end of the summer,
and Sunday it'll be a post for Anything But a Card.
All are going to be wonderful, and I hope you'll spend some time on my blog this weekend.

Remember if you love this card as much as I do, it can be yours, hop over to the Etsy Shop to pick it up!

Documented life

I'm super excited to share a new project with you all today!
It was another killers work last week!
And lots of work leaves little time for creativity!
However I did stumble upon this amazing project last week, and I wanted to join that second!
It's called Documented Life.
One part art journal, one part planner, and a challenge to boot!
There is a challenge every Sunday,
Something you can add to your planner,
And they really challenge you to document what's going on in your life.
This week the challenge is to draw a house.
Since that is pretty much out of my talent ability right now, I put one together with some
Scraps that have been hanging out!
The house was so big and looming,
So I did some doodling on one side!
And then I had to add the heart, because home really is where the heart is!
I'm so so soexcitedfor this new challenge, and so excited to be doings early journaling again!

If you want to join this awesome project there is a Facebook page here,
And you check out the blog here

More flowers with fussy and fancy

I gotta tell you all that I've been working non-stop,
and there is something about working all the time that sucks up all my creativity!
I feel like on my days off I just wanna veg!
Am I the only one that feels tis way??
Maybe so!

Anyways, I hope you all have been playing along with the flowers challenge
at Just some Lines!
For my creation this week I pulled out some very flowery
papers that I have to be honest I would never use on a full size layout!
So I cut out a tag, and colored up my image, then I popped her onto a flower,
on top of the flower tag!
A quick stamp on the bottom from Unity Stamps, and bam, a perfect little addition to
a package, or just to add to my tag collection!

Just a to point out a little detail, the charm around her neck was just a circle,
I took out my black Smash Pen, and made it into a flower!

Hope you're playing along, I can't wait to see your creations!

Announcing a Winner!!!!

It's time for the winner of the Fussy and Fancy Blog Hop!
Thanks to all of you that hopped along, and I hope you
were both inspired, and entertained!

The places you'll go

I have a bit of a confession
I've been holding off on this post for a few weeks.
A special order was placed for a card very similar to this,
So I didn't want to post the card until the recipient had gotten hers.
I am loving this saying for graduation,
And after making a few for the etsy shop,
It's perfect for the graduate, and it was super fun to make,
and it used up a bunch of my scraps!
I hope you're getting your crafty on,

More flowers for just some lines

 Hello dear followers,
I am so sorry that I've been so inactive on the blog as of late!
I have been very busy at work, lots and lots of overtime!
However I have a tag to share with you today!

This week I created this fun little tag
I added some of my steampunk flowers to the bottom of the tag.
I am sooo in love with how they look, and there are some currently up in my shop here
These flowers are a bit smaller than the ones posted, and they fit perfectly on this tag.
Here's a close up of the fabulous Just Some Lines Image,
Please hop over and join in the fun challenge!

Steampunk Flowers

Hey y'all!
I've been working on some fun stuff for my Etsy Shop, and I wanted to share
with all of you in blogland!
About two years ago when I first started paper crafting I did an altered composition
book swap with my Meet up group.
On that book I put one of these flowers.
I have not revisited making those flowers in the last two years,
but I thought this could be something that the scrapbook world would LOVE!
So here they are:

Mmmmm I am in love with all that teal greatness!
The fabric was leftover from my wedding, and I just love how fun and simple these are.
I used mine on an altered notebook,
but I see scrapbook pages, and headbands, and napkin rings, and lots of other great craftiness!
So if you're interested, or if you'd just like to see what else I have to offer, please hop on over
to my new shop! (I'm just SOOOOO proud of it!)

Some flowers for Just Some Lines

 Happy Weekend!
My work schedule changes today, I will now be off on Sundays!
I know you all may not be as happy as me, but I am really looking forward to having
Sundays off for football season!

Ok, so today I have a Just Some Lines creation to share with you all
The challenge is up for the whole rest of the month for FLOWERS!
If you dear readers know me then you know that I don't do girly very well!
Grungy and dirty and messy, well that's definitely my style,
but I like to challenge myself too, so this card is sorta a mix of the two.

The background is a little grungy,
I  stamped those flowers on the green paper, and used
some flowers that I found laying around my desk.

Please hop on over to Just Some Lines and play along with our challenge.
There is even a free digi over there that you can use!
I know SCORE right??

Thanks for stopping in, and if you are interested in my cards,
check out my new Etsy shop here
I'll be adding some new graduation cards later today, so keep your eyes peeled!

Playing with Gelato's, and a bit of a tutorial!

And what a hurried morning it was for me!
I had to finish mom's mother's day card, and I also had to work on this FABULOUS creation!

I know I don't do tutorials too often,
but I got to playing with my new Faber Castel gelato's, and I think it's perfect timing.

I mentioned a few posts ago that I had gotten some gelatos,
I bought the blue pack,
and then at my retreat my secret sister (Mary) got me the starter pack!
It includes pink, yellow, gold, and some great little packets of glass bead glue, gesso, and other yummies!

So to start with I bought one of those cool We R Memory Keepers Envelope makers!
NO! This post is not about that.... but I did use the back piece of the packaging for my base!
Here it is after I painted it with white Gesso
The gesso pretty much covered all of the graphics that were printed on the board.
I then used an alphabet stamp and stamped all over the background!
Sorry no close up picture of this til later!

I then stamped on a piece of tissue paper
The very cool thing about this is when you adhere it to the chipboard, the tissue papers sort of disappears, it's very cool, and you are left with the image.
See!
Next step was to add some of the gelato's
They go on and look like crayon (nope, not kidding!)
Then comes the fun part, getting your fingers dirty!
Soooo, you just spritz a little water, or you can dip your fingers (or a paint brush if you want) into some water, and then brush the gelato's around.
See how the yellow is covering the bottom of the chipboard?
From here ther are any number of directions you can go with a piece like this!

My next step was to add some purple and blue gelato's
and then I held the chipboard upright and I sprayed.. and sprayed... and sprayed with my
water bottle!
Just let it run down the page.
Like this:
I then sopped (yes sopped!) up the excess that pooled at the bottom and on my desk.
and I took a piecs of plastic (think ziplock bag type plastic)
and I smooshed (thats a real technical term) the running gelato's about the page.
Again, no real great close up of this, but you'll see it later on in the project.

Next I took the gelato's to a butterfly cut out of Tim Holtz kraft paper.
Here's a tip.... keep the like colors together, otherwise everything will turn out dark!
See I tried to make the circles on the wings pink, but they got sorta muddled!
I then added some glass bead glue to the top of the butterfly and I set him outside to dry.
(And yes I said HIM, butterflies CAN be males!)

For my next step I did another bit of stamping on tissue paper.
I love this sentiment.
Again I used my modge podge to adhere the tissue paper to the chipboard
see how you can see the color and stamps through the paper, and it virtually disappears.
I then took my fine sharpie around the stamping,
I think it makes the wording stand out.

Ok, so then finally I wanted this whole thing to actually say something!
So I dug out the largest size stamps I have, and I stamped in black staz-on ink
DREAM BIG
You can see where I started outlining the stamped letters,
I didn't think they were BIG enough, and so by adding the boxes around them, it makes them stand out even more.
See, and then I added a little bit of white gel pen doodling to the letters as well!

Are you ready to see the finished product??
Yes! Me too!

So you know what I LOVE so much about using old product packaging??
see the hole that's already punched in the top, it's like a built in picture hanger!
Plus I'm keeping this bad boy out of the landfill!
Yep, it's gonna go up on the wall somewhere of my husband's
