Wherever you are

Today is (try to) get ahead day!
I leave for vacation on Saturday, and realized about a week ago that I've got a number of posts that should be going up while I'm out of town!
So I've been working like a madwoman all morning!
What do I have to show for it?
Three design team posts and this fabulous gem of a card!
Yep, this one was just for fun!
You see, I got this awesome background stamp at michaels,
It's a hero arts stamp, and I just had to play along with the Rainbow
Challenge at A Blog Named Hero!
Sooooooo I created this beauty!
And, it will be off in the mail this afternoon.
Headed to sunny California to cheer my cousin who is
Indeed on the adventure of a lifetime!
Here's another quick lookie

Don't you just adore those big gems from lawn fawn?!?

LOVE-ly layout

Good morning!
I was busy in the studio yesterday!
I have this fabulous layout to share.
There is a wonderful new challenge at Paper Secrets, it's a sketch challenge with a twist.
The twist is you must use LOVE... Or a product/ technique using the first letter of each of those letters?
L- lace, O- organza ribbon V- vintage photo and Victorian velvet distress inks E- embellishments and embossing!

Speaking of embellishments, I made my own for this layout.
Here is my handmade flower embellishment.
That by the way is the challenge at shopping our stash! Make your own embellishments!
I have a small secret! This flower was made for my wedding, and has been repurposed on this LO!
I just adore that sparly button in the middle!

Next I also made these little banners, and added the brads to finish them off!
Brads are the challenge at All Sorts challenge blog!
Plus maybe you can see that there are brads around the picture as well!
By the way, this was my wedding day hair and flower! Which of course I made the flower!
I hope there is enough vintage romance all over this page,
I tend to think the black and white photos lend themselves to that awesome vintage ness!
I'll also be linking up with Bearly Mine's Vintage Romance challenge,

Finally I want to share the inspiration board that started it all
The challenge is from Scrap Around the World and here's the photo

Just some lines final few days of Hearts and Love Challenge

Ok, so this is the last week of the challenge at Just some Lines
show us your hearts and love!
**Sorry my post is going up a little late today**
I made two different cards but used the same image for this week!
Ohhhh isn't this elephant so stinkin cute??
I got a little blingy, and did some dry embossing!

Then I made this little beauty as well
I am sorta on the chalkboard bandwagon!
I do love the look, and the feel of the white on the black!
and of course the elephant is sooooo cute!

If you haven't had a chance to play along just yet, come on over and join, all the
Design Team members have such wonderful creations!

The big day

Good morning bloggers!
Last night before I worked (for a measly 3 hours)
I was able to get my craft on with some of my crafty friends!
It's been a while, so it was really great to catch up, and to get a layout done!

Oh, you thought I was sharing a layout with you all??
Nope! I'm sharing this really awesome card!
I think the sentiment was maybe implying a wedding day,
But I decided that it goes much much better with that super cute cupcake!
What's your take?

I have a little secret....
I'm submitting this to possibly be published.
Fingers and toes, and whatever else you can crossed that maybe just maybe I'll get picked?
Getting published is on my crafty bucket list, and I certainly hope that one day I'll have that honor!
The entry is being made to Crafty Stamper Magazine
the challenge is Repeat Stamping Technique
I just love this little balloon stamp,
it was a present from my mom, well it was more of a cleaning out her crafty stuff present,
but I remember when she got this little stamp, I was about 7 or 8 years old,
and I just love the way this cute card turned out!

Do you have any words of wisdom for poor ole me about how to get published?
My take is if I just keep applying, eventually I'll get picked?
He he he maybe not very strategic, but that's ok too!

Wow it's Saturday, and the weekend will be over before you know it!
Are you getting crafty?? I certainly hope so!

Very blue layout

I was so lucky to get some crafty crop time with my Meet-up girls last night,
it was quick for me because I had to work,
but I was able to churn out this layout!
It's amazing to me what I find around the studio when I am packing for a crop!
This super cute photo was what I found.
I especially used up a bunch of things that I've been hoarding,
like the viewfinder, and the shells, and especially the little bit of ribbon that is beind the shells!

Here's a little closer view of that collage of goodies!
Ahhhh, there is that little bit of ribbon! And some shells that I've been hoarding as well!
I hope to replace those shells when I head to Florida in a week to visit my sisters and mom!

Finally, I had to add the title in my glittery letters!

And these three flags I have been hoarding for quite a while, and they are the last
of the pack! Ohhh but they are perfect for this layout, so I have decided to part with them!
Are you getting your crafting on today?
What are you creating?

Heart for mom

I got this FABULOUS Stamp from Docelera a while back, and have not really used it at all!
Is there a better time (other than mothers day) to make a pink (valentines day) card for mom??
I layered some lace behind the heart, and mounted that on a pretty slip of
pink shiny paper, then ran a piece of Maya Arts Twine around the card.
This was super simple, and it's really very stunning.
I'm going to add a KISSES stamp on the inside, and away it will go next week!
Hopefully so it will be there in time for the V day!

Thank you sew much

I was lucky enough to have lunch with a good friend yesterday.
The new restaurant that we went to just happened to be in the same parking lot as Joann's
so after we had a fabulous luch and talked for about 2 hours we headed over to Joann's.
And my great friend says to me, "I have giftcards, that's like free money" "just throw it in the basket"
I found this fabulous stamp for about 80% off, so it would have just been silly to pass it up right?
I had to add all the sewing stamps I could find,
and I adore the push pin in the Thank You.

That Thank you stamp by the way is from Simon Says Stamp,

Valentine for dad

Let me tell you Aaliyah, valentines for men are not so easy to pull off!
I started with the new February sketch at DCWV
And I pulled out my timeless type paper stack.
I love this stack, but quickly realized there are no red pages.
No fear, I made my own red paper!

I wanted to incorporate some of the very trendy chalkboard look that's out right now.
So I used this fab stamp that I won last week, and stamped in white to give that look.
Then for the hearts, I die cut them out, and then inked them with my distress ink pad in
Barn door. Then I embossed them, and finally I added a little bit of red staz-on around the edges.
After a little bit of twine action I mounted it all to a polka dot card base, and we are ready to
Rock and roll!!

Hearts for just some lines

This card is the first of it's kind!
Yep, I made an easle card!
Can you believe it??
I've been eyeing them and watching youtube tutorials for months now,
so I finally just said yep, I'm gonna do it.
And you know what??  It was SUPER easy!
And it was made even easier by the use of my small scorpal!

I know I should be talking about this fabulous Just Some Lines digi that I used!
And it really is awesome!
Super sweet and simple, and very easy to color up!

I made the background paper using a Love definition stamp
and my distress inks.

Here is a side view of the card, standing up with no assistance!
Whoop whoop! I did it!

And here's a close up of the colored digi!
If you have fallen in love with this sweet little girl like I have,
head on over to the shop and you too can own her!
Plus with the built in heart it's sooooo super easy to play along with the Hearts and Love challenge!

By the way I left this little cutie set up on the counter at home for my hubby!
Our work schedules are at complete opposites right now, so I really am missing his face!

Love note

If you follow my blog you know that this card is pretty different for me!
My niece had me create this card, and asked for black roses.
I wasn't sure what she meant until she sent me a picture!
I picked up the stamp from Michaels, it's a Stampendous Stamp, and is a good size stamp
As you can (maybe) see I stamped on black cardstock and then used my white embossing powder
**side story** I got the white embossing powder from my mom when she was cleaning out...
I distinctly remember when she first got the powder.
I was probably 7 or 8 years old, and we went to this little craft fair (the town I lived in was small!)
my mom bottle of embossing powder, a couple of stamps (which I also now have) and a stamp pad.
This was my first experience with any sort of papercrafting!
That was probably about 25 years ago, and the embossing powder still works!
Here's a close up of the main rose.
I used my metalic gelpens to color in just this flower, the gelpen is supposed to have a pink tint,
but it doesn't really show up very good in the pics!

Tic tac toe with Anything But a Card

Wow, it's time for another challenge at Anything But a Card
As a team we were throwing around ideas for this challenge,
some of the other girls had already settled on doing a tic tac toe board,
so I wrangled up some items on my desk and put together a board!
This is the awesome cleaned up board that our fearless leader Susan has put together for the challenge.

And here's the art journal page I created!
I used that top line, red, recycle, and glitter.
Can you spot all of my elements??
I used some of the other elements too,
like sprays or mists, sequins, and black even!
Here's a close up of the sentiment I uesed, you can see the recycled corrugated cardboard (a dunkin donut coffee sleeve), the sequins, and you can even see a closeup of the red spray mist that I used!

I hope this and the other Design Team creations have inspired you to play along with this fabulous challenge!

Getting texture

I have a secondary post today.
Just something quick that I whipped up,
and that will definitely need some more work,
But the challenge today to Kickstart Your Art at Smeared and Smudged
is TEXTURE!
So I did two things that I've wanted to try they are molding paste through a stencil,
and dripping paint (or something sorta like that)
So here is the rough background I created!
Just FYI if you try this, make sure to protect the remaining pages of your art journal!

I'm also making a cake for the big game tomorrow!
And then of course it's off to work for me!
I hope you are getting some crafty/creative time today...
It helps with the stress of every day life right?

Jsl hearts

Can you believe it's February already?
Me either!
But the best part is that means there is a new challenge at Just Some Lines
The challenge for the lovely month of February is Hearts and Love!
AWWWEEEE right??
So my sister's birthday is on Groundhogs day (tomorrow!)
And I made her this cute little card.
The digi in the middle is of course from Just Some Lines,
and the sentiment stamp is from Unity Stamps!
I got it in a grab bag, and I LOVE it!
Especially since I have 2 fabulous sisters!
Hop on over to the challenge and play along!
