31 Days of Halloween: Day 31

Happy Halloween everyone!
Are you dressing up and giving out treats?
I will sadly be at work! Luckily I really like my coworkers, and we'll make the best of it!
Sooo today I whipped up this cute little ATC.
After all, the challenge at Wicked Wednesday atc is
Head covering... I think this cute witch stamp from la la land stamps is perfect!
I colored her up using my copies and prismacolor markers...
Plus I wanted to play along with the Tic tac toe challenge at frilly and funkie
I used the bottom line of glitter, ink sprays, and buttons
Finally I wanted to add a moon, just like the big full one outside! So I punched out a circle and inked it up with wild honey and rusty hinge distress inks.
Do you love?

Full moon at wicked Wednesday

I love ATC's (artist trading cards)
I have been playing along with the challenges over at Wicked wednesday for
Quite a few weeks now!
The challenge this week is "full moon"
I do have a bit of a sense of humor, and have decided to go in a little
Bit of a different direction than most of the other participants...
I certainly don't intend to offend anyone...
But I just loved this elf, so I'm rolling with it!

Yep, a full moon! And it's my first Christmas ATC!
This guy was colored up using my copic and prismacolor markers.
The background was a glimmer spray covered in rock candy distress crackle.
The top half was covered with some glitter, and some silver
Alcohol ink...
Then I drew the trees on, and added a little stitching along the edges
And a line of doodling....
I know he's cheeky (pun intended) but I think he's fun!

Anything but a card/ 31 Days of Halloween day 28

Happy Sunday everyone!
I worked on this fun little box this week
I have been wanting to try out making a box like this for the entire month,
and honestly I just kept putting it off because I wanted to be able to feature it for
Anything but a Card's #5 challenge "use black!"
I can honestly say that I don't know what I pictured in my mind but the window was always
a part of the plan! mu ah ah ah
So this is the "Spooky" halloween candy box that I created....
Can you tell me what item was repurposed for this?? No no, I'll wait!
Both hubby and my mom guessed wrong... take your time.. and don't you scroll down to see...
he he he I'm just kidding!
I appologize in advance for this horrible picture... but it's all I have!
So, that's right, my Halloween candy box used to house my dryer sheets...
I did let it air out pretty good before I started using it!

Here's a quick shot of the box opened and holding my most favorite candy in the whole world....
Yep, reeses peanut butter cups...  MMMMMM
You can see that I added the velcro so the box would actually stay closed!
I just used my handy dandy hot glue gun to attach it to the paper

Funkie junkie tag 4

I have been a bad bad Halloween blogger the last few days!
It's simply been busy, and Hubby and I are now in full swing getting ready for mom and dad's arrival
at the end of the week!
We couldn't be more excited!
I seem to be moving more into the Christmas Spirit the last few days, so you may see a few more
Halloween posts, but I'm being pulled into the world of glitter and greens and reds!  AHHHH
However I've been following the funkie junkie's blog challenge for 12 Christmas tags!
I am sort of glad that I'm still a few weeks behind, it gives me something to dream about ha ha ha
Today however I'm sharing my rendition of week 4!
Miss Linda has the most fabulous creations, and I've pulled a few different pieces of her creation for this tag!
(You can see her creation here)
and here is mine...
I was very excited to be able to use my new embossing folder for the red background that I distressed using my sanding block!  I then glittered up the die cut star with some gold glitter, and I die cut a tag and stamped "dream" on it, then added a cut out of Tim Holtz Ideology paper and of course some twine!
The flower is the two smallest tattered flowers die cuts using kraft glassine.
A quick stamp towards the top of the card, and then I added a burlap string with some more twine
and a button, just like Laurie did!  (only her's is much better!)
I'm enjoying these tags immensely!
And the best part is that Laurie's store (found here) called the Funkie Junkie Boutique
 is sponsoring this challenge,
and she is offering a fabulous prize to 3 winners!!!  Wow!
It's certainly not to late to join in the festivities, and the best part is they don't have to be tags, you just have to take some inspiration from what she's created!
Which for me it seems is always a LOT!

Funkie junkie tag 3

Good evening ladies (and gentlemen??)
I do apologize for not having a halloween post for yesterday or today...
I could probably make up some sort of excuse... but I just haven't had the time!
I had however been working on a few tags for the challenge over at The Funkie Junkie
who is holding a weekly Christmas tag challenge where you take inspiration from the tag that was created on her site
Linda is offering a fabulous prize at the end of the 12 weeks to her wonderful store
(which you can find here) and which is also sponsoring the challenge!
I was inspired by the snowman and the heart on her tag to create mine
If you know anything about me you know that I hold on to that punchinella like it's a piece of gold! So for me to use some on this tag was a little heart wrenching, but it felt right when I applied it so I went with it!
This is the first tag I tried Tim Holtz's Marble stain effect on...
It was obviously an epic fail, but I still tried...
The snow man was actually a mask that I had, so I had to stamp the negative part of the mask and then cut him out of the grunge paper. But he came out alright.
Here's a little bit closer view I was super excited to find a snowflake punch in my stash (from who knows when???) so I punched out a few and added them to the tag...
Do you like??  do you love??  Hubby says I need to be able to display my work somewhere, but I get so self concious about doing that... I figure here on the blog is the best place he he he!
Hope your having a crafty weekend!

The crafters cafe and 31 days of Halloween : day 24

I'm so excited to share with you all that I was recently invited to join another design team
The crafters cafe is a fun little challenge blog
Where there is a monthly challenge with great prizes!
This months challenge is Halloween with distressing.
I made this fun coffin candy holder!
Apparently all my candy was ate by a hungry hubby!
But the coffin remains!
The image is from The stamping boutique
I colored it up with my copic and prismacolor markers as usual!
The black background was stamped and embossed with clear embossing.
I then colored the I embossed areas with perfect pearls
It's really a very pretty technique!
Here's another view
Please hop on over to to The crafters cafe and check out what the other DT members

31 Days of Halloween: Day 22

I had a lot of fun with this zombie image from Saturated Canary
I had been eying it for a while, but money's been tight, so I was lucky enough to win
This and another digi last week!
So I decided to do another Halloween tag!
I've been trying out Tim Holtz marbled stain technique.
I don't have the products he suggests, but I improvised, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!
So the challenge at Saturated canary challenge is a color challenge
Lots of deep dark colors... Most of which I don't have!
So I did what I could with what I do have!
Zombie is colored with copies and prismacolor markers.
I added some glossy accents to her eyes and the kitty's eyes.
Here's her close up....
Don't you just love the little zombie kitty too?
I tried to color him like my crafty kitty, but he's a little off...
Then I made some embellishments... Again I improvised and used what I had at home!
The heart is a die cut from grunge paper, inked up with vintage photo and then
Covered in rock candy crackle
And the "boo" is typed on that little blue typewriter
Finally I finished the tag off with a cat I inked up using a Tim holtz mask, and the cut hin out and covered in the rock candy crackle

So that is day 22...
I spent a good part of the morning in the craft room, so stay tuned for some more blogs today!
Happy crafting!

Funkie Junkie tag #2

So if you scroll down to the post after this one you will see my first tag offerring, and you'll see
that these two tags are very similar....
I've just simply fallen in love with this new challenge blog The Funkie Junkie
I've definitely CASE'd Linda's tag over there! And you will be seeing more of this challenge as the weeks come... it's actually a 12 week challenge, but their already up to week 5 (almost 6)
and I've come in a few weeks behind!
Please please please take a minute to check out all the fabulous offerings that the funkie junkie has in her store (http://www.thefunkiejunkie.com/) which is sponsoring the challenge.

Linda's inspiration piece uses Tim Holtz riveted patchwork technique which I've done before, so I wanted to take the inspiration off of some of the other things in her tag!
Here's her fun tag that I CASE'd

And here's my version...
As you can see I used my gears embossing folder and red alcohol ink on top of my most favorite aluminum tape! You KNOW I just love that stuff!
I've already started to work on my week 3 tag and currently have lots of paint on my fingers right now!
I hope you are having a creative weekend!

31 Days of Halloween: Day 20

Wow, only 11 days till Halloween.
This month is just flying by!
I have been getting back into my running the last few days, and so I haven't had as much time for crafting.
Don't despair, I have a fun offering for today!
I appologize ahead of time for the  pictures,
this product is hard to photograph!  But it's one of my most favorite products and techniques to use!
That's right, you've all seen it before (and you'll see it again!)
It's the aluminum tape at work again!
This time I dry embossed it using Tim Holtz gears embossing folder.
I then put the tape on the tag.  Then I used my alcohol inks in plum and green
(sorry I forget which one I have)
to add some color to the tag... then I ran the tag lightly across my staz-on black ink pad
this just picks up parts of the gears and highlights them!
Ok, enough talk... here's the tag!
I used a pretty image from Dilly Beans, and I'm gonna play along with their Cute and Creepy challenge
I colored her up using my copics and prismacolor markers.
I then added some glossy accents to the hearts
Here's her close up...

Isn't she lovely?  The hearts were die cut using a Sizzix die cut that I rescently got.
I added a little doily behing for some interest, and I distressed that using my peeled paint distress ink pad.
I am also playing along with Cut it Up Challenges: Eek, boo, ahh  Halloween.
The BOO is grungeboard letters that I painted first, and then covered in the glitter!
I LOVE glitter! Kitty even had some glitter on his face today from playing in the craft room with me!
I'm also playing along with Alphabet Challenge Blog: Anything Spooky (or not?)
And Anything Goes Challenges: Make your own embellishments (I think I've done quite a bit of that!)
Bearly Mine Challenges: #57 Anything Goes
Crafty Catz Challenges: Halloween

Alright, I think maybe that's enough challenges to enter!  After all, I wanna be able to play along with some other challenges this week!  It's my long weekend (4 days) so I'm hoping to finish off some DT commitments, and get some fun posts up for you all!
Have a great rest of the weekend!

Currently

Soooo, I'm having a stressful night, and I happened upon Kellie Winnell's blog here
Not that I don't usually stop by her blog every day, but this is the first time today ha ha!
She is always so inspirational, and today she's got a little link up Currently....
Where we can post what we're up to right now, it's always nice to get to know some of the other ladies
(and gents) in the crafting world!
Sooooo without further ado....
CURRENTLY.....
Loving: My super soft kitty that takes my chair every time I get up, but then licks my toes when I toss him on the floor!  I love that he loves to come in the craft room with me and just hang out! I love that he was terrified of the doggie when she came home with a new hair cut, but then let her lick his ears, and did I mention that he's super soft??
Reading: Honestly I haven't had time to read much, but I do have a copy of "The Great Gatsby" in my work bag.  I try to get to it sometimes, but that doesn't seem to happen very often.
Watching: I'm not currently watching anything but this computer screen, but I've been really really really into game shows lately!  Like the Price is Right, or Lets Make a Deal, ect ect.  Sometimes I even get up super early (for me 9 am is super early ok! (I work nights!)) and watch Drew Carrey, and then I go back to bed!  Ha!
Anticipating: This one is super easy, I'm anticipating mom and dad's arrival... in two weeks and 1 day!  It feels like forever since I saw them, and it was just in April!  I heard Dad's got a case of the envies, and wants to maybe head to Prescott!  I just love it up there, and he definitely would not be twisting my arm to head that way!
Listening to: Chitter Chatter of my co-workers! It can be soothing.... Oh, maybe you mean in my car??  Lots of K-Love http://klove.com and the new Matchbox Twenty album (I'm so jealous of all you Aussie girls out there that might actually get to see Rob in concert!!!) I'll just bide my time I guess!
Planning: Well Mom and Dad's trip of course!  We're gonna go to Tucson, and maybe Prescott, and I wanna work on the.... Oh wait, that's the next one... so planning, their trip, and how I can get my house back into shape before they come!  Thanks hubby for all your hard work!
Working on: Ok, so I'll be working on.... the family cookbook... at least I hope to be doing that when mom comes... or let me rephrase that, Mom hopes to be doing that when she comes.  I have apparently dropped the ball a little bit on this one!  I'm also working on a cool Candy holder for the new DT that I just got invited to!  That's right, my second!  I'm excited!  That's right ladies, here's the link: the crafters cafe challenge blog the new DT's were announced just 7 hours ago! I've already got my list of projects for that fun little gem!
Wishing: Honestly that it was a whole lot cooler outside!  I just don't understand how it's still almost 100 and it's near the end of October??? I hope it hurries up and cools off before mom and dad come!

So..... this is a piece of my brain!  Ha ha ha... if you wanna slap up a quick post and link it to Kellie's blog, join us!  I'm off to see what all the rest of the girls are up to!
Have a crafty evening, and a crafty weekend!

Come fly with me

I wanted to play along with a few challenges, but I've also been wanting to try some new techniques...
I found Studio l3 which is a challenge blog that goes along with Tim holtz
Compendium of curiosities II. And the prize is a wow gift card from Simon says
Their challenge ends very soon, and if you have the book (which I don't by the way 😁)
Then they are on page 53...
So last time I was at the hobby lobby I checked the book out...
It's a cool technique where you emboss onto black paper and the color in the image
Using perfect pearls....
So here's the ATC I created
Lucky for me Wicked Wednesday atc has a new challenge butterflies
This week! Plus Flutterby wednesdays challenge is anything with wings
So I stamped using my denami design stamps, in clear, and then clear embossed over to make a resist
Then I colored in the butterflies with my perfect pearls... The book goes much more in depth so check that out!
I Added a some words punched on my dymo
Do you like??
It's definitely more shiny in person....

31 Days of Halloween: Day 18

I'm really staring to love the challenges over at Sk digis
I've never tried a shaped card, and that's their challenge this week...
Sooo I pulled out my tag die cut and did my best to line up the side of the tag on a fold without cutting into the tag itself.
This cutie is the result!

I can honestly say that I often feel this way!
Especially when hubby wakes me up way too early!
Here's a quick peek at the inside...

Plus with that fun mummy wrapped all up I think he fits into the 31 days of Halloween!
Only a little under two weeks til the big day!
Do you have your costume all picked out??

31 Days of Halloween: Day 17

Ok, ok, so I missed yesterday.... It happens :)
But today I'll make it up to you!!!
MMMMMM Today I have pumpkin cheesecake for you!
Well... I have a picture to maybe make you drool, and a recipe!
Sooo the recipe isn't mine exactly!  I did make a few tweeks, but it's pretty much Paula Deen's recipe which can be found here
and as my friend Steph said, "it's pretty much just cream cheese and pumpkin filling right?"  It's not, but it's entertaining when she thinks so!
Here's my finished product (I know it's sort of cracky!)
but it's super yummy, and I've decided that instead of the chicken I brought for dinner  I'm gonna just have lots of this and a few cups of coffee.
So I did promise the recipe, and here it is, but again, this is mostly from Paula, I just made a few minor tweeks :)

Ingredients

Crust:

  • 1 3/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 stick melted salted butter

Filling:

  • 3 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pureed pumpkin
  • 3 eggs plus 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
For crust:
In medium bowl, combine crumbs, sugar and cinnamon. Add melted butter. Press down flat into a 9-inch springform pan. Set aside.
For filling:
Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add pumpkin puree, eggs, egg yolk, sour cream, sugar and the spices. Add flour and vanilla. Beat together until well combined.
Pour into crust. Spread out evenly and place in oven for 1 hour. Remove from the oven and let sit for 15 minutes. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 4 hours.

This is also a great recipe for Thanksgiving!

31 Days of Halloween: Day 15

Today I have a tasty and super easy treat for you....
No, not a treat you eat (I should do one of those posts)
But a treat as in something you could use around the house, or you could make a bunch and give away as presents even!
My friend Mary posted a fab tutorial a few weeks back, and I knew I just had to
try to make her creation!
Check out her fab blog Here
Plus she designs for Saturated canary's video team their like a design team but they do videos
And a lot of super fun tutorials!
Ok, so what I made is a couple of super cute coasters.
I was able to pick up a 2 pack of coasters on sale at Michaels.
They are the tile kind with cork on the back, and they were a blue floral pattern.
Here they are halloweenified.... Well sort of!
I wanted Halloween but I wanted to be able to use the coasters after Halloween too!
So I figured the bat was halloweeny, but the sentiment made it universal...
But wait, there is another version as well!
Both of these images started life as a digi!
Yep, from the super talented Angie delarie
Aren't they just the cutest images? And don't they make the cutest coasters?
Ok, a couple more pics
And.....

I love them! Go try this super fun and easy project!

31 Days of Halloween: Day 14 and Anything but a Card Challenge 4

Ok, ok, ok, so I made this project over a month ago!
It's been really hard to no share it, but I wanted this to be my Halloween/ Fall post for Anything But a Card
I know if you check out my blog at all that you know this Challenge blog is super fun!
And it's anything but a card, so let your imagination run wild!
I know I did!
Sooooo hubby and I picked up this bad boy at an estate sale some time in August,
I was trying to plan ahed for my 31 days of Halloween
and I loved all the rust and old goodness I found!
But what to do, what to do?

How about a halloween doorhanger? There are lots and lots of possiblities with this non traditional art product!
Ha ha ha is that an understatement??
Ok, here's what I created......
First I painted the wood parts with a green acrylic that was washed down with water.  I hoped that some of the original graphics would come through, and they did a little... then....
Yep, I used some of my hoarded Graphic 45 papers, some vintage lace, some vintage ric rac,
a found piece of metal (the skull) and a gear covered in glitter..
on the top I added a strip of paper, also from Graphic 45,

And then I added a glittery orange pipe cleaner for the handle
(sorry for the glare off the glass that is in fact my back yard ha ha ha!)
Soooooo this fun piece was super fun to create, and it was really pretty easy as well!
Sooo, next time you see one of these big bad boys at a garage or estate sale, pick it up, maybe you'll be inspired to create a christmas decoration???  Or just a Halloween decor...

Sooo get out there are create! It's good for the soul, and calming to the spirit as well!

31 Days of Halloween: Day 13

Maybe cause its the 13th this should be a scary post??
Well the challenge over at Dilly beans is a spooky girl!
But I don't really do scary or spooky very well, so for my day 13 offering I've created
A not so spooky, maybe kinda cute ATC
To answer your question, no it's not my anniversary (still got 3 more weeks for that)
It is however the one year anniversary over at Wicked Wednesday ATC
And they have some fabulous prizes in store!
So if you've never made an ATC, or it's been a while, come join in!
I tried something a little different with this image.
I paper pieced the background. Yep, I paper pieced the background!
This image was perfect for this technique, probably because of the framing.
Here's her close up....

I added a little glitter on her wings and eyes, just because I love glitter!
So, is she spooky?? Maybe not so much? I think she could be though...
Don't forget to come back tomorrow for a new challenge at Anything But A Card
It's gonna be a funnnnnnn project!

Funkie Junkie Tag #1

I was sooo excited when I saw this fun challenge going on over at the funkie junkie
It is a weekly challenge leading up to Christmas to make 12 tags, one every week for 12 weeks
There are some amazing prizes, and be sure to check out the funkie junkie shop
where you can pick up some amazing products!
Ok, so I was inspired by pretty much everything on this amazing tag..
Here is the inspiration tag:
Isn't it beautiful??
Here is my rendention, and as you can see, I pulled a lot of inspiration from this tag, but I love the
bright colors, and I'm sure you already know... I don't know how to do anything not loud! ha ha
Pretty??  I get so self concious when I'm scrap lifting something,
But I am really happy with how it turned out
Here's a bit of a close up
I do love the stars on the bottom, and I finally got to use the wings stamp I bought
a few months ago!
Sooooo if you need a fun challenge to follow along with for a few weeks, check out funkie Junkie, and it's sort of like a series of books, but you don't have to wait months and months for
a new edition, just a week for the new tag to come out.... Plus if you're like me you
are already a few weeks behind, so you can play catch up with me!
Have a blessed Friday!  Hope you have great plans for crafting this weekend.

31 days of Halloween: day 10

As you may know I adore the images at dilly beans!
And while I've been preoccupied with my 31 days of Halloween,
I still wanted to play along with the challenge this week!
I think this fun card could be a fabulous Halloween birthday card??
Ok, so the challenge was to use black, pink and purple...
I had to add the green to make it a little halloweeny (is that a word?)
Anyways, I wanted to use a couple of new stamps that I picked up at Michaels this week
(On sale!!)
I also wanted to play along with cut it up challenges by using pink (and die cuts)
All those perfect circles are most certainly NOT cut by hand!!
I stamped them with one of the stamps to make them more festive
Finally here's her close up....
I added glitter for a bit more festive!!
Tomorrow is the last day of the challenge at dilly beans, so whip something up
Real quick and come join in the fun!

I am sooooooo excited about today's project!
I have attempted to alter an altoid tin before, and it was an epic fail!
Today however I am very excited about my hand coffin
Yep, that's right, a hand coffin...
Just in case you have some hands hanging around your house and you need somewhere to keep them!

I started this project trying to make the box look rusted. Does it??
I have never really tried this, and I decided to use paints
To achieve this rusted look!

It worked, but was a lot of work... Layer after layer of paint!

I looked at the box when it was done, and thought well, what can I make it into?? So I decided to add the bone hands inside.

I added some lace around the bottom, and even though you can't see it,
There are little feet on the bottom.
I had some white faux fur in my fabric stash that I added to the bottom of the box!
Then I did some embossing and glitter on the top inside of the box.

Finally I embossed the clock onto some aluminum tape that I colored with alcohol inks.
I ran a little staz on over the face of the clock so the numbers would pop out
Then I pounded some glass beads and adhered them to the surface.
I am finally happy with the outcome of an altered tin!
