It's my party

Happy Thursday all my bloggy friends!
I had a snippet of time to craft today, and I went at it!
My girlfriend Sasha was admiring a bookmark I was using at work last night, and
she showed me her bookmark.... it was an old napkin!
That simply is not acceptable, so I let her rifle through my digi's and she pointed out this one
This of course immediately brings to mind the song "It's my Party" by Leslie Gore.
I colored her up using my copics, prismacolor markers, and a bic fine tip sharpie!
I die cut her out, and also the little sign is a die cut as is the heart!
The graphic black and white background was some tissue paper that DH was gonna throw away... I saved it from a life of misery in a landfill!!!
Here is the close up of the digi!
I'm still struggling with coloring hair....
I hope you like what you've seen today!

Winter birthday!

Ahhhh are all your stockings hung?? I guess the real question is are they filled??
As in did you get all your Christmas shopping done??
I still have at least one present to buy, and a little bit of wrapping to do!
But I had enough time to throw together this cute card!
My girlfriend in Florida's birthday is at the very beginning of January,
and I though I've gotta do something that has no hit of the holidays.
I'm hoping I succeeded??
The image is of course from Saturated Canary, and I colored her up using a mix of
Copic, Prismacolor, and Spectrum Noir markers.
I also used the markers to color up those cute cupcakes!
Here's her close up!

That paper behind her is really more gray, but appears pink in this pic!

Anything but a card challenge 7

Good morning!
Today is a new challenge day at Anything But a Card
Where you are challenged to make anything but a card, and this week you can be inspired by this fab picture
At first I was tempted to try to do a painted umbrella,
but alas I live in Arizona, and umbrellas seem to be pretty hard to come by here!
(who knew!)
Sooooo I had this awesome Saturated Canary image and since
my inspiration from the picture was the umbrella, I ran with it!
Yep, I haven't had an altered composition book in a while!
Ok, so here's the back story, when my parents were out 2 weeks ago we decided we were going to do a family weight loss challenge.  So we got a number of family members on board, and we've been doing our best to keep eachother accountable, and as I'm sort of spearheading the operation, I am offering some prizes.
This is the prize going out to my sister in law in Florida.
Hopefully she will stay inspired to keep up the good work!
Plus since I seem to always be winning things, and it's so much fun for me to get these fabulous prizes in the mail I thought I should return the favor!

Here is a close up of the little sentiment on the front cover....
I love this!  I got a pack of clear stamps at Joann's black friday/saturday sale
they are all very inspirational, and I really cannot wait to use some more of them!

Finally, here is a close up of my colored image
yes, I used my copics,
and yes, I was also inspired by some other challenge blogs that I play along with
Please head over to the Anything but a Card blog and join in our biweekly challenge
or at least check out all the creations from this super talented Design Team!

A princess and a reminder

Happy Sunday all my blogger friends!
Usually today I would be posting my DT creation for Anything but a Card
However I had my parents in town this week, and there are some finishing touches I need to put on my creation! Sooooo hop over to anything but a card and check out their new challenge....
"A stitch in Time" where you can submit anything but a card that includes either time or stitching!
Super fun challenge!

So today I'm sharing with you all the beautiful card I got to make with my mom!
She just loves hanging in the craft room when she comes, and we made this fab
birthday card for my cousin.

Over at the Saturated canary challenge blog the newest challenge is "fairy tales"
This beauty reminds me of a princess, and I think she is a perfect fit for the
Challenge! Mom wanted this relatively clean look, (I did talk her into the flower)
The threading of the ribbon through the paper was her idea, and I will most likely be doing this
Technique again!  It was a little time consuming, but it's a really pretty effect!
Here is the princesses close up!
And on the inside we just had use this paper with the dresses!
Wanna hear something super fun? The side with the sentiment is embossed using white embossing powder that mom gave me a few years ago....
Which she had bought years and years before when we lived in Idaho!
So literally 25 + years ago!
I love how the card turned out!

Card of a different shape

I won this fun SC digi a few weeks back from miss Mary for a fun blog hop!
You know how much I love these images, and the kitty is just so freakin adoreable!
I colored her gray just like my Koa cat (who wears a gray and white tuxedo)
The challenge over at Saturated Canary Challenge
is to make a non square card...
Which is also the challenge at Simon Says Stamp challenge
So I pretty much just straight edges at an angle to make this card...
yep, that's right, I'm not very good at making shaped cards so this works for me!
Isn't this a fab digi??
I needed to make a thank you for my dear friend in Florida who was so nice as to
send me and Hubby a 2nd anniversary present!
Who wouldn't love this fun shaped card??
Here is a close up of miss kitty! Don't you just love her green eyes??

31 Days of Halloween: Day 22

I had a lot of fun with this zombie image from Saturated Canary
I had been eying it for a while, but money's been tight, so I was lucky enough to win
This and another digi last week!
So I decided to do another Halloween tag!
I've been trying out Tim Holtz marbled stain technique.
I don't have the products he suggests, but I improvised, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!
So the challenge at Saturated canary challenge is a color challenge
Lots of deep dark colors... Most of which I don't have!
So I did what I could with what I do have!
Zombie is colored with copies and prismacolor markers.
I added some glossy accents to her eyes and the kitty's eyes.
Here's her close up....
Don't you just love the little zombie kitty too?
I tried to color him like my crafty kitty, but he's a little off...
Then I made some embellishments... Again I improvised and used what I had at home!
The heart is a die cut from grunge paper, inked up with vintage photo and then
Covered in rock candy crackle
And the "boo" is typed on that little blue typewriter
Finally I finished the tag off with a cat I inked up using a Tim holtz mask, and the cut hin out and covered in the rock candy crackle

So that is day 22...
I spent a good part of the morning in the craft room, so stay tuned for some more blogs today!
Happy crafting!

Use office supplies

If you follow my blog at all you know that Krista Smith's Saturated Canary
Images are one of my favorite! There is a challenge blog that I always love to follow along with
This two weeks the challenge is office supplies.
And it is really a challenge!
I work in a sort of office, and for the last week I would just look around me and think
How could I use this or that on a project....
Then I received a winning package from the amazing kellie winnell,
And I knew I was gonna make a thank you card...
So I raided my stash of mostly estate sale finds, and this is what I came up with

I used my ledger paper for a background, the urgent stamp is from
Viva Las Vegas stamps, the circles are reinforcement stickers that I inked red.
The thank you is a gummed address label from an estate sale, the receipt is also
from an estate sale, an I added the paper clip as well
Finally I stamped the date on the bottom of the card and added a divider label
On the side, which would easily be found at or in an office
The image is Circus trixie and was lots of fun to color!
Here is her close up

I added a little bit of glitter glue to her ring and hair...
I love how she turned out.  Probably not award winning, but still pretty and it fits the challenge perfectly!

Marking things off my list

I rescently wrote a 35 before 36 list, (no I haven't shared it here)
One of the things on my list is to keep in better touch with my long-distance friends
I made this card in attempt to make a start at that!

The image is from the super talented Krista Smith from Saturated Canary
You've seen her work on my pages before!
Her new challenge is to use Polka Dots, so I did my very best to polka up everything!
Even the little ribbon which was all black, I added white dots using my white gel pen
Here is the close up of this this pretty little fairy

I added some "clear" glitter glue to her wings to make them stand out
I cut her out using my Big kick die cut machine and a Spellbinders Oval nestabilities
On the black oval I ran it through my cuttlebug embossing polka dot folder

Now for the butterfly!  I'm so excited to share this butterfly with you all!!!
She is made out of a dryer sheet!
YES, I said a dryer sheet!  You wanna know how??  I will not take credit for this one.. I found this
fab tutorial on youtube here

It's hard to see, but the butterfly is actually see through!
I even threw some extra dryer sheets in with my blankets tonight so I'll have some more to work
with this next weekend, ha!
I also added some stitching along the edges, and along the sentiment too!

I can't wait to send this beauty off to Florida!

The Huntsman

I've mentioned before my struggle with card making...
Today I continued my battle...
In this case using "the huntsman" from Saturated Canary (find it here)
At the Saturated Canary Challenge blog there is a challenge based on a picture
I interpreted the green grass and the big tree into this
Birthday Card for a friend from work
My friend is really into magic cards (I don't get it but he LOVES them)
So I figured what else would a little boy with a sword slay but a dragon??
I added some sewn detail around the sides

And the oval that the huntsman is die cut out of was them embossed around the edges.
The Ticket is from Tim Holtz, and I added the "happy day" stamping
Here's the huntsman's close up...
Isn't he a cutie??
Hope you like what I've created today!

Ribbons, butterflies, and the great outdoors...

Ahhhh back in the craft room today for the first time in a week...
It was fabulous!!  I got a lot accomplished, but as I mentioned before,
I can't share too much with you as I'm getting ahead for the anything but a card challenge
Coming to a computer near you September 2nd!

I did take some time out to smash tho!
I struggled with this one girls...
Something about these circles just threw me off....

I tried them all over the page! And finally I stuck them around the SC
digi and glued them down!
The Challenge over at Saturated Canary Challenge is the great outdoors!
I Love this image, and colored her up with my copics

Then I did something I'd never tried before...
I cut out another image and masked her up and Distressed and glimmer misted the background!
It hurt a little to spray up a perfectly good image
but I love the way she turned out!
I also got a little creative with the ribbon behind the banner... Some ribbon and twine!

And the butterflies in the circles are from Denami Designs.
And my new favorite tool the die cut machine churned out the flower and the circles, and the pretty
scallopy design for the butterfly girl!
I left some space at the top of the page for some journaling.

Black and White + 1

The challenge over at saturated canary challenge is to use black and white plus one other color
I was super excited to color up Krista's newest freebie
I even bought a new copic marker for the occassion.
Here she is in her close up!

I colored her using mostly copic markers, and for the black polka dots and black stripes
I used enamel accents
And the whole card.

I'm also entering this card into some other challenges, there is texture on the cutout of the digi stamp, and the buttons were just too much to turn down.  The patterned paper has been in my stash for a while
you could say I've been hoarding it I guess.
and the fun little sentiment is from a new pack of clear stamps I picked up at Joann's this week
I added the eyelets to the side of the sweet sentiment, and ran a strip of washi tape behind that.
Finally, I had to... HAD TO make an envelope to go with (mostly cause the card turned out to be an odd size)
I think they look like a fine pair!
Hope you enjoy my creation

All that glitters and shines

I'm working on cards this week!
One of my peeps at work asked me to make her some cards...
What's a better way to get better at something I feel I struggle at??
This is a Saturated Canary digi from the super talented Krista Smith
This week over at the saturated canary challenge blog the theme is bling!
So I brought it!
This is "circus trixie" and I colored her using my copics and prismacolor alcohol based markers.
I added some glossy accents to the bow around her tummy, glitter to her hair, and the red along the outside of the spellbinders die cut is painted using red glitter paint.
I added rhinestones along the blue star paper on the side, and red glitter glue to the star in the corner.
I also added stitching to the sides, and the red ric rac (say that 4 times fast!) to the bottom... Finally I finished it off with a button strung with twine on the side!
I certainly hope my friend loves this card!

Con "grad" ulations

I wanted to make a card for my niece's graduation, and since her school colors were red and she wore a bright blue dress under her graduation gown I figured this was a perfect chance to use these colors!
I'm so proud of all her accomplishments... and barely 17 years old too!!!
I can't wait to send her this little beauty!

And a close up where you can see all the dots I added to her dress, and on the gear wheels too!

On the bottom I added a little sentiment using my dymo label writer
Finally I added a strip of ribbon, twine, and a little flower with a jewel brad in the middle to round out this fun card!
The digital image is from the very talented Krista Smith at Saturated Canary... check out her shop here!
Her digi's are truly amazing!

SC challenge # 19

I have loved the Saturated Canary "usherette" since I first saw her!
 (find her here!)
And I kept saying "I'll use her for this..." or "I'll use her for that..."
Well today was finally the day!
Over at the facebook Smash* aholics page there is a challenge to use a digi in your smash*book
So finally a chance to use the pretty usherette and some of my old movie stubs

I used some copics, and prismacolor markers to color her in, then snipped her out and smashed her down!
I also got a chance to use some of the amazing box of ric rack I found this weekend at an estate sale...

I added a little writing, and an xo sticker... doodled a little around the "frame" and added some hearts!
I Love her!!!

and also showing it off for the smashing facebook group!
Please feel free to check out some of the other stuff I've done!

A Summer Bookmark

I Love Bingo!!!
Hubby thinks I should actually be about 65 years old....
But I Love Bingo!!!!

So when I saw the Bingo 2 Week challenge over at shoppingourstash I KNEW I was going to participate!
Of course I also love saturated canary's challenge, so for my first combo challenge, I did this little beauty

For SC the challenge this week is bookmark,
it's perfect for that summer book I'll be picking up soon!

For the Bingo challenge I had to incorporate glitter, pearls, distressing, blue, and flower...
I love the glitter in her hair... feels like she got some sand stuck in her locks

I also got a chance to use my new denami stamps that you may remember I won in a blog hop last weekend.. That's the little butterfly, embossed and painted with pearl watercolors!
I also incorporated some of the twine I got in that same win from the twinery to the ribbon's at the top of the bookmark..

The pearls and flower I tied together in my handmade flower which is also blue

There is some distressing on the edges of the bookmark, and I also used ranger distress inks and a little punchinella on the side of the bookmark.

I hope you love my summer bookmark!
What is your favorite book??  How would you make a bookmark for it?

Challenge #15

I had to read the rules twice before I determined that an art journal/ smash book entry would be fine!
This is my first entry to the saturated canary challenge I am super excited to start using these fun digi stamp creations by Krista you can find them in her store here

This is my big beauty!

I used copic and prismacolor markers to color her.

And her close up!

The background for the page was painted with a wash of glitter watercolors, and the raindrops are of the same.

Some of the raindrops have a little Ranger Distress Crackle paint on them.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by hope your are enjoying creating something today!
