Different for me

I'm not usually a flowers and birds sort of crafter..
throw in the butterflies, and I'm completely out of my element,
but I wanted to try to make these all work together!
I always like to play along with the challenges over at Pretty Pink Posh
where they host a 10 minute craft dash.

See the card next to the logo, I think I did a pretty good job of matching up these colore!!
My card took me 8:01 to create!
The paper with the bird was a leftover piece from my project from yesterday.
At the last minute I decided to color in the bird...
I used my spice marmalade Distress stain, and a small paint brush.
The little birdies on the top are wood veneers that I dabbed up with the same distress stain.
And on the side behind the seeds scrap that is some fun washi tape...
Can you tell I'm loving this new washi I have with the butterflies on it????!!!

I'll be sending this fun card to my mom!
She's been starting to make her own cards, and I want to encourage her, and give
her lots of examples of what she could make too!

For me?

Perhaps like many of you out there,
you make many craft projects, for your friends, for your family, often
even for complete strangers.
I know for me I very rarely make something for myself!
Today however I have a project that I made completely for ME!

See the problem is that I always needs a plethera of pens for my job.
I have a little locker at work, and the pens seem to just get thrown on the edge of the locker, and then of course they get lost!
So I decided to make the fun tin for all my little work items!

Here's the before picture
Yep, it's a large size Planters Roasted Almonds tin.

I covered it with some pretty papers from Heidi Grace.
And then I made the banners, I also used the Heidi Grace papers,
and I printed out the letters on my printer, and punched them out with a circle punch
then added them to the banners, punched holes for the twine, and voila, a banner.
Really that part was super easy!
Next I colored up this "color me wonderful" image from Saturated Canary

Here's her close up!  I am in love with her yellow dress
after all, yellow is my favorite color!
And it's a perfect springy color!
Finally at the bottom of the can I added a few stripes of twine from the twinery

A yellow thank you

Just a quick yellow post this afternoon as I am
Headed back not the studio for more creating!
Yellow, oh sweet yellow... My favorite color!
I know it's a little odd, but it's always happy,
Never pretentious, and looks fabulous on its own too!

Today I whipped up this little ATC, using my yellows (and maybe some orange!)
The little flower digi stamp is from dilly beans,
The yellow inspiration from (pin)spirational challenges,
And of course the ATC is for wicked Wednesdays challenge!
I love grouping them all together!
I can guarantee some more thank you's in the near future!

Card of a different shape

I won this fun SC digi a few weeks back from miss Mary for a fun blog hop!
You know how much I love these images, and the kitty is just so freakin adoreable!
I colored her gray just like my Koa cat (who wears a gray and white tuxedo)
The challenge over at Saturated Canary Challenge
is to make a non square card...
Which is also the challenge at Simon Says Stamp challenge
So I pretty much just straight edges at an angle to make this card...
yep, that's right, I'm not very good at making shaped cards so this works for me!
Isn't this a fab digi??
I needed to make a thank you for my dear friend in Florida who was so nice as to
send me and Hubby a 2nd anniversary present!
Who wouldn't love this fun shaped card??
Here is a close up of miss kitty! Don't you just love her green eyes??

31 Days of Halloween: Day 20

Wow, only 11 days till Halloween.
This month is just flying by!
I have been getting back into my running the last few days, and so I haven't had as much time for crafting.
Don't despair, I have a fun offering for today!
I appologize ahead of time for the  pictures,
this product is hard to photograph!  But it's one of my most favorite products and techniques to use!
That's right, you've all seen it before (and you'll see it again!)
It's the aluminum tape at work again!
This time I dry embossed it using Tim Holtz gears embossing folder.
I then put the tape on the tag.  Then I used my alcohol inks in plum and green
(sorry I forget which one I have)
to add some color to the tag... then I ran the tag lightly across my staz-on black ink pad
this just picks up parts of the gears and highlights them!
Ok, enough talk... here's the tag!
I used a pretty image from Dilly Beans, and I'm gonna play along with their Cute and Creepy challenge
I colored her up using my copics and prismacolor markers.
I then added some glossy accents to the hearts
Here's her close up...

Isn't she lovely?  The hearts were die cut using a Sizzix die cut that I rescently got.
I added a little doily behing for some interest, and I distressed that using my peeled paint distress ink pad.
I am also playing along with Cut it Up Challenges: Eek, boo, ahh  Halloween.
The BOO is grungeboard letters that I painted first, and then covered in the glitter!
I LOVE glitter! Kitty even had some glitter on his face today from playing in the craft room with me!
I'm also playing along with Alphabet Challenge Blog: Anything Spooky (or not?)
And Anything Goes Challenges: Make your own embellishments (I think I've done quite a bit of that!)

31 days of Halloween: Day 7

For the record the party went off without a hitch, and my mother in law
Had a fabulous time... The cops even showed up and asked us to turn the music down!!
Soooo for day 7 I'm sharing this fun ATC that I made

I wanted to use my new stamp that I won from Viva Las Vegas stamps
This is a good size stamp, and I wanted to try it out on aluminum foil
So I stamped it using staz on and let it dry (so about 30 seconds)
I then wanted to color the skulls and flowers, so I pulled out my alcohol inks
And I used a paint brush (gotta work really fast)
To finish it off I added a little glitter to one of the eyeballs.
What do you think??
Don't forget today is the halfway point of the challenge at Anything but a card
And something like this is perfect for the shine challenge going on over there!

Cow's it Going??

Lucky me, I had some time to create today!
I LOVE playing along with challenges
And I love to try to fit as many challenges into one project as possible
I KNOW you probably already know that if you follow my blog at all.....
Soooo today I made this cute card!

I have wanted to try paper piecing for a while now, and this is sort of using that technique
if you look close at the boy cow's overalls you can see that is actually a piece
of old jeans I have in my craft room that I use for scraps!
There, that's a better view...
and see the cute sentiment??  Cow's it going??  like I told hubby, thats Punny...
Oh goodness, I must of had too much caffiene today!
First this cute cow pair is a stamp from la la land crafts I colored them up
using my copic and prismacolor markers
I added stitching to the denim paper behind the cute pair and backed with the
fun polk a dot paper!

Then I added the butterfly which is a stamp from Denami designs
and the buttons seemed to round out the bottom, I then slapped on a quickie flower and
voila!!!!  The background paper is kraft resist from my boyfriend Tim Holtz
so you ask how many challenges can I fit onto one page???
