Memory boards

Helllo everyone!
I have a fun project to share with you today!
(warning, picture heavy post below!)
A friend asked me to make a memory board for her mother's funeral.
She sent me a couple pictures, and I was off.

We wanted a very vintage feel, so I printed the pictures out in black and white, and noir,
For the board on the back I used a scrabble board.
I had lots and lots of them leftover from my wedding four years ago,
and this was a perfect opportunity to use one.
I painted it brown, but made sure that it wasn't so dark that you couldn't still see the board.
Then I used Tim Holtz wood grain stencil to add a little texture.
Then I went to town with some tags.
I assembled the flowers from a pack of Prima flowers, with a brad in the middle,
then I added some bits and pieces from bo bunny, a bunch of used postage stamps.
On this tag I added a Tim Holtz metal word phrase, a butterfly punch, and below you'll see an assortment of ephemera.
More estate sale and fun other finds added to the different tags.
This was a fun project, and I even did a second board for her brother.
In the bottom left hand corner you can see (hopefully)
where I added the years of her life, 1923 - 2015.

It was very similar.
I have to say this was a fun project that really pushed me to use up some of
the fun bits that I have in the craft room.
I hope you have found some inspiration, and if you are interested in ordering your own
memory board please feel free to contact me, I would be happy to make one for you as well!

A valentine and a tag

Happy Valentines day to all of you!
I spent all last week making valentines for my friends at work,
and for my mother-in-law's friends.
Then today I realized that i had made nothing for my hubby.
Ooooops!
Soooo I knew I needed to work on my 12 tags of 2015 for Feb,
so I thought why not do both at the same time??
And so I did!
Here is the fun card I came up with, and below is the tag for Feb.
Still the card! But a different view!

And here is my tag.  I struggled a little with the frame around the heart,
and when I teach my class in a few weeks I will use a different paper for this.
I think the red on red get's very lost!

Otherwise I'm pretty happy with the results, especially the cool metal button,
and I adore the metal button as well.

Did I tell you all that I won last month?
You can find my creation here
Yep, I was so very very very excited.
I got a brand new set of stamps, and a fabulous brand new stencil as well!
It's like Tim and Mario know me!

I'm also excited that I will be getting to attend two Dina Wakley classes,
one in March, and another in May!  I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am!

I hope you all are well, and I will be of course linking my tag up with the Tim's challenge 12 tags of 2015  again this moth!

Friends

I was supposed to have this post up yesterday, but somehow the day got away from me!  How does that seem to happen?
Well I have a cute little watercolor to share with you. There is a brand spankin new challenge over at anything but a card its friendship.
I've been working on some fancier type hand lettering, so I used a black permanent pen to do the words, and then I hit it with some water colors. I hope you enjoy, and come join the challenge.
