Anything But a Card Challenge #3

Wow, it's been a month since the start of Anything but a Card!!!!
Its been such a wonderful experience....
Getting to know all the other DT members, and getting to push my creativity!!
Soooooo this week we have something shiny or reflective, I guess it could probably be
something glittery too!!!

I was super excited about a month ago when I found this awesome blue knob at an estate sale
I actually picked up three different vintage knobs at that sale... all for under a dollar!!!

I knew right away that I wanted to create something like this...
I ran the aluminum tape through my big kick with the gears embossing folder
then I grunged it up using some black acrylic and gesso... Just swipe it on sorta thick,
and then wipe it off using your handy dandy rag....
Then lucky for me the nice young man at ACE hardware agreed to drill a hole
in the top of my box for me!!!  yeah, it was perfecto....
In went the screw and the nut and voila, I had a fab handle for the top

I lined the inside of the box using some Tim Holtz papers... (I know it's sorta hard to see!)
I wanted to pick up some of the blue from the knob
and this paper fit the bill perfectly.
The cashier at ACE says I should make them and sell them... wouldn't this make a perfect gift
box for dad or hubby??
So, hop on over to Anything but a Card and get some inspiration from the
design team, and then get to linking your shiny projects!!!  Just remember,
NO CARDS!!!!
Happy Sunday all!!  Have a Crafty day!!!  I'll be watching some football!!!

Dorothy ATC

I love how quickly ATC's go together!
It's just a quick little piece of heaven!
I wanted the "yellow brick road" so I used my punchinella
and some gold embossing powder to make the road
then I used the little image from Saturated Canary
if you can see, I used some red glitter glue on her shoes
and I wanted to add the witch, but these ATC's are really pretty small, so I added
a pile of green goo with a witch's hat instead!
Then the little tag finished off the piece!
Hope you love it, and I hope you are finding time this
weekend to create something fabulous!

Cow's it Going??

Lucky me, I had some time to create today!
I LOVE playing along with challenges
And I love to try to fit as many challenges into one project as possible
I KNOW you probably already know that if you follow my blog at all.....
Soooo today I made this cute card!

I have wanted to try paper piecing for a while now, and this is sort of using that technique
if you look close at the boy cow's overalls you can see that is actually a piece
of old jeans I have in my craft room that I use for scraps!
There, that's a better view...
and see the cute sentiment??  Cow's it going??  like I told hubby, thats Punny...
Oh goodness, I must of had too much caffiene today!
First this cute cow pair is a stamp from la la land crafts I colored them up
using my copic and prismacolor markers
I added stitching to the denim paper behind the cute pair and backed with the
fun polk a dot paper!

Then I added the butterfly which is a stamp from Denami designs
and the buttons seemed to round out the bottom, I then slapped on a quickie flower and
voila!!!!  The background paper is kraft resist from my boyfriend Tim Holtz
so you ask how many challenges can I fit onto one page???

Fall is in the air???

I am so excited to share today's creation with you
First because I got to use a brand new die cut, and second because
It just turned out fabulous!

Soooooo, first of all I have been playing along with Designed to Color
To celebrate their 1000th Facebook fan
Their challenge is a scavenger hunt to find a recipe for a creation..
I Love scavenger hunts... I even had one for my 17th birthday!
So I found all the items I needed to use: a colored image, at least 2 patterned papers,
Bling, twine, and some doodling.

Here's what I came up with!

Yep, it's a picture frame!
Yesterday was half price day at the Goodwill, so I got this frame for 75 cents!
Can you see all my elements?
Why fall you say, since its105 degrees out STILL?
Well cause that's the challenge over at Dilly beans! One of my favorite
challenges! I just love the images Megan puts out!
Here's a close up.... And my doodling element is in the stripes in the background

So we've got the colored image, the doodling, and the patterned papers (with the leaves!)
Now we need some bling and twine!

I covered these grunge paper letters with gold glitter (hubby's suggestion) and then sealed them in
with some glossy accents.... And did you notice that I sewed the center of all the leaves??
I LOVE this tattered leaves die that I picked up on clearance at Michaels!
And all of this was inspired by the challenge at Cut it Up Challenges which is
to create something from their fall inspired pictured, and of course to use something die cut!

Just a quick reminder that a project like this would be perfect over at
Anything but a Card where the challenge is to use texture!

So a recap, this pretty frame is being entered into the challenges at:

Using only one color

Over at Designed to Color they are celebrating their
1000th facebook fan!  And they are doing a bunch of giveaways.
One of the giveaways includes a challenge (well two of the giveaways include a challenge, but we're
only talking about one of them for this post!!!)
The challenge is to use only one color....
I'm not great with a single color.. but I'm up for any challenge!

So I pulled out all my markers and I grouped them together by color.
2 pink, 3 yellow, 2 green, 4 blue, 3 tan/brown, 1 orange, 1 purple, and 1 red.....
So I guess the likely choice would be blue, yellow or brown.
So I started with brown, but then realized the challenge said NO Sepia, and the
brown/ tan was definitely sepia looking....

But I'm hoping to use her for the current Autumn colors Challenge over at Dilly Beans

Sooooo back to the drawing board!  I picked up my green markers and went to work.
The green markers are a light and a dark.... no too much contrast.
That was last night, today in the light of day... ehhhhh no pop, no pizzazz!!!
I was playing around with my distress inks, and realized that I have 2 green distress inks!!! Yeah!!!
and I have a cake of green watercolor, and I have green glitter glue!
Ok, ok, I'm just rambling huh??  Here's the pic!

She is all green, but still pretty beautiful right???  Well I think so, and I'm hoping to incorporate her
into a fallish project, so hopefully this won't be the last you'll see of this beauty!
Remember to check out the fun over at Designed to Color and enter one of their fun giveaways!!!  There's still a little bit of time!  and follow them on Facebook too!
Happy Crafting!

smash page filled with wings

I haven't Smashed in a while
so yesterday I decided it was the perfect day for some smashing!
I came up with this pretty page....

wanna see something cool???
Can you spot the difference from the pic above and below?
That's right ladies and gents, the fairy moves!!!
I put her on a penny and she moves back and forth!
Here's her close up
I did a little bit of glitter on her wings to make them shine!
Isn't she pretty?
There is a banner that I made using pink twine, and some pretty pink silk
I just cut some triangles and then added the "fly" in sticker letters
Finally at the bottom of the pages I did some stamping,
added the pocket and the tag, the doily, and I hand tied those ribbons
I KNOW right!  Super duper easy... just check it out on youtube
Finally I added that cute butterfly, I made her using left over dryer sheets
Soooo, that's it for today!
I was gonna enter this page into some challenges, but I ended up missing the deadline!
ha ha ha I am going to enter this in the Saturated Canary Challenge to use "B"
I have butterfly, and bunting, and bows, and brad blings!!!
You can check out the challenge here

Robot Love

Today is a quick post!
I made this robot card
The robot is from Dilly Beans, and I colored him up using my copics
I colored him in my favorite color!  That's right folks, I LOVE yellow!!!
I hand drew the hearts and outlined them in black sharpie
The sentiment was supposed to be a pun (is it???)

Here's a little close up....
