Spring Poppies at Just for Fun Rubber Stamps

Good morning!
It's a surprisingly cool morning here in Arizona.
The weather forcast tells me it's going to be excessively HOT next week
(like very close to 100.)
I can't really say I like the heat.
It makes one sticky and smelly!
However I can say I have been loving all the amazing blooming flowers here in the desert.
That inspired me to create this card with a wonderful poppy on it.
I stamped the poppy with my distress inks,
and then I filled the poppy in also using the distress inks, but as a watercolor.
I love this technique.
It leaves a beautiful image.
I finished off the card with a little gold washi
(cause I can't get enough of the gold trend right now)
and some gold embossed sentiment.

How are you enjoying the beginning of your spring?
There will be a brand new challenge up at Just for Fun Rubber stamps tomorrow.
All I can say is it's something the "nest" in.

Have a wonderful day!

Painted ipad cover

I'm having a hard time getting my craft mojo up and running this morning,
Sooooo I'm going to blog about altering my ipad cover.
Yep, I finally did it!
I of course should have taken some step by steps for you all to view and love,
But alas I did not!
I will tell you that I started with two coats of gesso,
I then finger pained on deco arts media fluid acrylics in quinacridone red, primary yellow, and cadium orange hue.
Yes I used my fingers, and yes, it was amazing!!
I then stamped using archival black ink and an alphabet stamp.
Then I went to town with the circles.
Again using the deco arts media fluid acrylics, this time in yellow green light, and cobalt teal hue.
I also used Media white tinting base.
To add the little bits of gold I used the metallic lustre in brilliant turquoise and put it through a stencil. I love how this adds a bit of dimension.
Finally I used an Andy Skinner stencil Serendipity and Carbon black paint to stencil the words.
I created the border, and finished it all off with the triple thick gloss medium to seal it all in.

I am over the moon in love with how it turned out, and will be finishing off the
back side in short order.
If you are bored with your plain black ipad case, you too can do this project.
It took less than an hour, with another hour or so for dry time on the gloss.

I am linking this up with the Brights Challenge on Andy Skinner's blog.

12 tags of 2016: February

Good Morning!
This last weekend was Valentines day,
I worked.... ALLLLLL weekend!
And even an extra long day yesterday!
However I found a little time to work on this card.
I am teaching a monthly class to my Art Group based on
Tim Holtz' 12 tags of 2016.
But mine is a card instead of a tag.
This is what I came up with for this month.
I used many of the same techniques,
but interpreted it into a card instead.
I love how the heart and the starts and arrow all turned out.
Tomorrow I teach the class, and I'm excited to let everyone try out embossing pasted!
Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine Day.

Birthday Cupcakes

Good morning!
Today I am sharing a fun birthday card with you all.
I am loving all the fun stamps I get to play with from Just for Fun Stamps,
and I used up some of my scraps from my scrap bin for this one!

The cupcakes were stamped with distress ink, and then I added a little bit of glitter embossing
to them for a tiny bit of sparkle.
I hope you all have a happy and creative weekend.
I will be at work,
but I will be thinking up my next creative endeavour to share with you all.

Stocking card

Good morning bloggy friends,
Christmas is fast approaching, I hope you all have your shopping done,
and are getting to enjoy some time with your families!

This year I am lucky enough to have my parents staying with me for 7 weeks,
which includes Christmas and New Years.
Mom and I have been making ornaments, and planning our
baking list!
Today I want to share with you a little card I made.
I have been so fortunate to be a part of the design team at Just For Fun Stamps,
and this fun stocking stamp.
I colored it up using my watercolor pencils,
and attached it to some leftover pieces of Christmas paper.
I am loving the sewn crazy quilted look of the paper with zentangle of the stocking!

Merry Christmas to you all!
Have a wonderful time with friends and family!

December Daily

Sooooo on November 30th my friend Angie and I decided that we were going to do some "quick" December Daily's.
Is there such a thing??
Well we did our best, and spent the next two days putting together
our "quickie" books.

Here are some looks into the blank pages.
Hope you are somehow documenting your December, and your life in general.

Most of my papers were not double sided, so I cut the same paper for front and back and then I
used my sewing machine to sew them together.
On one of the days I added a place to slip a tag between the sewing.
There is a lot of yummy good pages and papers.
I love the uniqueness of each page, and am having fun documenting my time with my parents.
