Art Journal Challenge: Drips

To say that this was a fun challenge would be a gross understatement!
I have ink on my hands and fingers even still!
So simply put the challenge was Drips.

You want to see the pictures I know so here they are!
First some paint

Then some sprays

Then a little bit of stencling
And then the final addition of the simple sentiment.
I didn't really want anything to detract from the drips, and I think I accomplished that!

Hope you enjoy!

Remember to leave a comment for a chance to win a set of Dina Wakley scribble sticks.

What are you working on today?

Art Journal Challenge: Bible Verse from Daily Reading

Today is day three of the Art Journal Challenge,
I'm hoping to try out a video in the next week or two as well
(Apparently I need an extension for my tripod!)
So today I drew the slip that says Bible Verse From Daily Reading.

I should let you all know about my morning routine I guess!
So I get up and get coffee
because I love the warmth and little bit of sweetness.
And I spend about an hour doing a daily devotional
(Currently the Book of Mysteries by Johnathan Khan)
And then I read the Bible.
I had tried one of those 365 bibles, and it wasn't for me.  I never felt like I was retaining books, just jumping around.  So now I read through an entire book.
I'm currently in II Samuel and man is David a fun read!
However the devotional had a great verse in it.
Since you can't see the verse so wonderfully it is
Ephesians 5:13 But everything exposed by the Light becomes visible - and everything that is illuminated becomes the Light.
Ironically that wasn't even in the devotional, it was actually Ephesian 5:14, but I looked above and it struck me as wonderful!

So I tried to do a happy yellow background.
I layered on with some stencils, and did a little "journaling" that I mostly covered up.
To be honest, I'm pretty sure that this will be a page I will come back and do some revisions to.

Here are a few process photos:

So here's my question to you, Do you do a daily devotional?

Do you incorporate it into your journaling?

And do you have a devotional that you just love?

Have a wonderful and blessed day!

Art Journal Challenge: Put a Button on it

Good day!  It's a glorious morning here in Arizona.
We are creeping up in temps, but the nights and mornings are still cool and beautiful!
After my morning devotional I raced to the craft room with coffee in hand
(Cause I don't do much til that's done!)
I was excited to pull another prompt, and get back at creating!
As you can see from the title, today is Put a Button on It.
And I immediately started to overthink what a button would do to my journal this early in the game.
I'm picturing the bumps and bruises to future spreads.

I should preface this page with I put gesso on this page last night when I had too much come out of the bottle when I was gessoing some tags.
And as Dina Wakley often says, gesso is like wearing underwear.
So I can't say I'm sad I did.
Anyways, I layered on some scribble sticks, and then moved the pigment around with water.

I flicked some of the Olive stick and the Black stick for some splatter.
Then I had an ah ha moment (Bear with me, it's been a while since I journaled!)
I remembered how to make yummy backgrounds...
Stencils!
So I grabbed some that were laying on the desk and went to town.
Then I grabbed some prints I made with the gel plate yesterday, and hand drew and cut out the hearts.

I'm loving them!

Lastly I worked up the tag.  It had also been printed on with the gel plate yesterday (when I made my sister's birthday card.)

I looked about for a sentiment, and settled on this one.  It's pretty true as I've only done yoga once, and I'm pretty sure I didn't wear yoga pants that one time!

I hope you are enjoying following along, and remember to leave a comment for a chance to win a set of Scribble Sticks for yourself!

Art Journal Challenge: Sketch/ Draw

Well, it's begun
Ironic that I pulled the one I was the most afraid of on the first day!
Yep, Sketch/ Draw.

Here's the deal if your just jumping in, you can find the first post here with all the details.
Day 1 and I decided GO FOR IT!!!
After all that's what this whole thing is about,
Pushing myself to do the things I haven't been doing for a while, and enjoying every minute of it.
I'll be honest, there was a minute (or three) of me thinking Ummmm what should I draw?
But then off I went.

Here are a few process photos.

I just used a plain old mechanical pencil.
Cause remember one of the rules is that I use what I already have.

She progressed a bit, and then I added some color.

Personal critique is that she's too orange, but I'm going to just say she's been out in the Arizona sun like ME!

Then I added the background, and the little quote.
Pretty fitting for this first challenge if you ask me!

Thank you for checking me out, and I hope that you are a little bit inspired!
Remember to leave a comment for a chance to win!
Oh, and if you want to know what products I used they were:
Mechanical Pencil, Sharpie Pen, Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks, a Stephanie Ackerman stamp from documented faith, a dotted stamp I had laying around (it doesn't have any markings left on it so not sure where it came from!)
And of course my Imagination.

The verse for today is John 14:6 :  Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Art Journal Challenge

Good afternoon,
It's hard to believe it's been over two years since I've blogged.
I miss this community, and I'm hoping there's still some of you out there!

Today I am coming to you all with a personal challenge
I am challenging myself to get back into the swing of getting messy.

If you know me you know I love to use color and paint, and stencils and stamps.
I have been out of the game for far too long, and am returning to my love!

Ok, enough lamenting about me.
So here's the deal,
I am challenging myself (and you if you choose to accept the challenge)
to 20 days of Art Journaling.

Don't worry, they don't have to all be in a row!
I personally am challenging myself to 20 days in 25 days.
And that's because in 26 days I leave for vacation, and I can't make any guarantees when I'm gone!

What's a challenge without a list?
The plan is this, there are 20 prompts, I will choose a promt each day that I journal.
It will be a surprise until I sit down to do it.
Well not a total surprise since I did make the list up myself, but it will be a choose a prompt out of the hat sort of challenge!

So do you want to see the list?
Here it is:

Each prompt will be cut up and put in a bowl (aka the hat)
and each day I will pull a prompt.

Sooo, what's in it for you?  Well my dear followers (those that are left, and those that are new.)
One of my new obsessions is the Dina Wakley Scribble sticks.
So if you follow along each day, and leave a comment, I will draw a winner at the end of all this.
(And after I'm back from vacation,)
And I'll send you your own set to play with.

But here's the deal,
I want you to be inspired to play along,
Take one or two or all of the prompts and get a little messy.

As always, thank you for following along, and I hope to see some of your creations as well.

Just for Fun: May Challenge "just the girls"

It's time for a new Challenge at Just for Fun Stamps.
This month we are challenging you to do something "Girly"
If you know me then you know I don't do this well.
I am pretty much a jeans and t-shirt hair in a ponytail kind of girl.

This is what I came up with.
I altered this composition book.
My niece turns 16, and she is much "girlier" than I am.
I thought she would like the colors, the butterfly, the buttons, ect.
I hope you will hop over to Just For Fun Stamps and check out their fabulous product.

Birds of a feather

Hello all you in blogland!
There is a brand new challenge up over at Just For Fun Stamps
We are challenging you to make something with the theme
"Birds of a Feather"
I have used this amazing stamp in the past, and it was perfect for this challenge.
Look at how amazing the stamping is and then covered in embossing!
WOW, what detail!
I'm totally and completely in love with gold trend that is popping up EVERYWHERE!
So, I'm officially on the bandwagon.
I used the gold embossing and the gold foil from Deco-art.
Please come on over and throw your feather in the hat, there's even prizes to be won!
