Painted paintbrush

Good morning, 

  Today I am sharing with you a project that I've wanted to create for quite a few years.

About 6 years ago I was visiting my parents in North Carolina and I got the chance to stop by 

the Donna Downey studio. 

She had all these painted paintbrushes up on the wall, and I thought I'd love to try that. 

Fast forward to this week, I have had a bit of free time off work this week, 

and I thought why not try it!

 I also have been using a lot of my Lindy's Stamp Gang magical and sprays,

and I thought why don't I use the inspiration to create my paintbrush. 

So here is the inspiration piece:

I would have loved to do all the butterflies too, but they didn't appear as I was working!

This morning I got up early.

I wrote out a list of all the projects I wanted to work on.

This beachhead canvas was at the top of my list!

I've been watching YouTube tutorial videos for the last 5 days, 

and today I finally have the time to create! 

First and foremost I knew I wanted to use my Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays, and play along with the current challenge found here and this graphic:

So here's what I created!

Most all the background is Lindys sprays. I used:   pop rock purple, merry go round green, raspberry lemonade, time travel teal,  also used magical powders freaky franken-lime and witch potion purple, which are both part of the haunted Halloween pigment powder set. 

I started with layering on sprays and powders to make the background. 

I sprayed, and heat set, and sprayed and heat set until I had a background I loved!

I then layered some stencils and using distress inks added a bit more color and texture. 

Next I painted the chipboard pieces with gesso, and then sprayed them with the Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and the magical powders. 

You can see I didn't use some of the pieces here, there are some great chipboard pieces in the set! 

Finally I started assembling the embellishments and picture on the canvas. 

Don't you just love that lighthouse??

I layered some dictionary paper, twine, an old doily, buttons and pearls to complete the photo area. 

I could use these sand dollars on hundreds of projects!  And all colored up with golden sleigh bells from the jingle bells spray set!

I love how I mixed and matched sprays from a number of different sets and they all look amazing together!

Happy Mothers Day to all the amazing mothers out there!

I'm a mom to 6 furbabies, and I'm pretty sure they won't be making me dinner or bringing me flowers, but I will get hugs and kisses from them I'm sure!

Today I have a fun ATC to share with you all.  

I have recently been wanting to get back into some of the challenges that I used to participate in quite often, so I thought what better place to start than with an ATC.

There are a couple of challenges that I'll be entering this into.

I created this ATC by white embossing polka dots to the background,

then splattering some Lindys Stamp Gang Rudolphs Nose Red

Then I stamped the "Ruler," and the letters which are part of Viva Las Vegas's 

December Daily Plate 1430

Finally I stamped the butterfly with Create onto a bit of vintage dictionary page.

I got my inspiration from this photo

"BUTTERFLY BOOK"

I am very excited to share this post with you all! 

First there is a brand new challenge over at Anything But a Card, 

its to be inspired by "The Masters"

For quite a while I have had a Dali print hanging in my living room,

I love his quirkiness, and the way that he bends and moves items around.

I did not do that!  

I know that's maybe a let down for you all,

I was however inspired by this painting by him

At first I wanted to try to do one of those books where all the pages are folded to make it look like some sort of word or animal.

That didn't quite pan out, but I'd like to try that again sometime.  

What I decided on was a small canvas that included a butterfly.

I also (for the first time ever) got some Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays.

Wow they are fun!  If you don't have any, check them out! 

So I guess I'll just leave you with all these yummy yummy pictures. 

I used the color palate from Lindys Stamp Gang May challenges,

I'm hoping my colors are close to the inspiration.

I used Merry go round green, pop rock purple, raspberry lemonade, tilt a wheel teal, tibetan poppy magical powder (it really is magical and WOW do I love it!!)

and lastly tibetan poppy teal spray as well.  

Again, if you've never used this product it is hands down one of the best I've ever used, and I am so so so so so in love with the results!!!
